Monday is World AIDS Day. While much progress has been made to combat this devastating virus, millions are still impacted.
*Here are some shocking facts:
- 35.3 million people are living with HIV
- 6,000 people are infected everyday
- 95% of new infections occur in low- to middle-income countries
In some regions of the world, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa, between 15-28% of the population are living with HIV.
The UN is committed to eradicating HIV by 2030. However, this global commitment needs everyone’s participation. By partnering with Visionledd and supporting us, you are part of the UN’s promise and part of God’s plan to help the sick and the dying.
HIV & AIDS is a terrible virus that inflicts incredible pain on its victims. Richard Brown, International Director at Visionledd, shared with the staff the story of Chrissy. A young woman, likely in her 30s, who was dying of HIV & AIDS. She was lying on the floor, outside and covered in open sores. She was in pain and, without pain killers, she was suffering.
Though she was suffering, she was also singing.
“I have a beautiful home in Heaven where there is no pain, there is no sickness and there are no worries.”
Two weeks after Richard met Chrissy, our partners in Africa reported that she had died.
The staff at Visionledd want to thank you for your ongoing and faithful support. Without you, Chrissy would have died alone without any knowledge of God or that she was loved. This is why we do what we do – so that others do not have to suffer in silence and die alone.
